Epic Games has announced that they are bringing bots to Fortnite Battle Royale.
Revealed earlier today, the dev team behind the popular shooter confirmed that they are planning a matchmaking revamp.
Some of this will start this week but other major changes won't be arriving until October.
Season 11 will see the launch of bots in Fortnite Battle Royale and is part of a much wider change coming to the game.
This will start in September and includes bringing a more skill-based matchmaking system to the game.
Epic Games says they have left matchmaking alone for the most part since Fortnite Battle Royale first released.
But now they're making revisions due to how improved players have become on all platforms.
This will start with players being matched with others who are seen as having similar skill levels.
Epic Games say they are planning to roll out it out slowly over their core game mode and also be regions.
So some gamers may have to wait to experience the new changes, while others might get them much sooner.
These changes will be followed by the introduction of bots, computer-controlled players, which will be added to the game in October.
Epic Games says that bots will be assigned to your skill level, meaning that if you are a new player, you will start against them.
However, bots will disappear from Fortnite games the better you get, meaning they shouldn't be seen by most players.
Epic Games hasn't revealed the skill levels or requirements for bots yet but more news should be shared the closer we get to Season 11.
Here's the full statement from Epic Games on the new Fortnite changes:
"Since Battle Royale launched, the matchmaking strategy for our core modes has remained mostly unchanged.
"Over the past two years, however, the range of player skill has grown considerably. In Arena, we use Hype-based matchmaking to ensure players are matched evenly across platforms.
"In the v10.40 update, we're introducing improved matchmaking logic to Battle Royale core modes to create fairer matches.
"What does this mean? You will be more likely to match with players of similar skill, and as you get better, so should your opponents. We will slowly roll this out to all regions across Battle Royale core modes as we test and monitor how it performs.
"We're excited to get this out for everyone to play with and will continue to update the system. We'll update you when it's fully live across all regions to get your feedback as you try it out.
"In the next Season, we are adding Bots to Fortnite. They will behave similarly to normal players and will help provide a better path for players to grow in skill.
"Bots will work in conjunction with the new matchmaking system, and as your skill improves, you'll face fewer Bots.
"Bots will not be present in Competitive playlists. This is another system that we will continue to update and iterate."
